Here are a few things that have been said about Snuggy Hoods:

Bella isn't wearing her Snuggyhood armour in the photos, but without it she would not have been doing, and winning, her first CDE.  We competed in a monsoon!  We went training level, but actually did almost all the prelim gates as well.  There were two massive water hazards (not on our course) that I used for, what else?  training.  In one hazard we reached every gate by going back and forth through the water.

Without her hood, blanket, udder cover and leggings it would have been a raw and bleeding pony unable to concentrate on the job at hand.

We had so much fun despite not being dry for two days.

Your products are worth every penny!

   Snuggyhoods to

the rescue.  They would not be the ponies they are without you.

Hi, please find attached a couple of photos of my little section A mare and my 4 year old daughter. I bought my mare last September unbroken and in a sorry state. I knew she had sweetitch when I bought her and the first thing I did was to buy her a Snuggy Hoods Sweet Itch Body. I spent the whole of the winter backing her and went out to our first season LR showing. She's been fab & has been placed in the top 4 in EVERY class entered, even winning a championship - I'm so proud of them both. I've shown her plaited & trimmed as she had no mane whatsoever when she arrived a year ago, so managed to grow enough to plait it & keep her tail pulled, but thanks to her snuggy hoods she's actually got some mane and tail now! So thanks very much. I've recommended your products to friends umpteen times since.

I just love your hoods - my 15.2 TB goes out in his Fleecy red sheep hood in the winter to keep his clipped head and ears warm....

People use him for giving directions, go left past the horse with the red hat on....you know the house that had the horse with that funny red hood - well it's there, and being in a busy hunting valley, I warn the hunt grooms when I clip his head out first time as other horses snort past him - what on earth is THAT! Being chestnut, we wondered if perhaps you would add tiger stripes to the range...He just fancied leaping out from behind trees at people this year!

I just wanted to let you know that I'm now on to my second Sweet-itch Body and my pony, Tatty-Ann, quite simply couldn't live without it!  She suffers from very severe sweet-itch and previously we had used the Boet Blanket.  But I didn't like the belly-band which I felt put pressure on her withers and I found her belly still quite exposed, particularly around her teats which would be covered in bitten sores.  I was so pleased to discover your rug with the full coverage it provides and I love the little trousers!  No more bitten front legs, which would be so itchy that Tatty-Ann used to literally chew them raw.

The photo attached shows just how relaxed Tatty-Ann is in her Sweet-itch Body (as you see we stil have to cover her face as she gets bitten around the eyes even with the tassels).  Our other horse, Ethel, tried your turnout hood for the first time this winter when her mane was being rubbed by her rug.  That was fab too!

Many thanks from a very grateful owner and an very relieved itchy pony!

I just had to write to thank you for making such a superb piece of horse clothing!  I have a grey horse and this winter has been absolutely awful.  He is a real mud wallower and has been coming in from the field covered in mud even though he has a full neck cover!  I have been reduced to tears on more than one occasion when confronted with a solid mass of wet mud from mid neck to the end of his nose (how do they get mud between their ears?!) That has now changed and even though he still manages to get his ears and round his eyes a bit muddy, his head and neck are beautifully clean!!  A weight has been lifted off me and I can now spend the little time I have before work actually riding him instead of cleaning him up. He might look as though he is about to go out and rob a bank but he doesn't seem to mind wearing it - although I am really glad I went for the zip version! I just wish I had thought of buying one much sooner. It would have saved me many hours of frustration!  I used to think hoods were just for really precious people who wanted to keep their show ponies clean in the stable, but now I know different.  It fits like a dream and is beautifully made. I am recommending your products to all my friends.  Thank you once again. Best wishes Rita Hilton, West Sussex

Just writing to let you know that we are so pleased with the sweet itch rug which is used on our Welsh Sec A mare.  She had rubed 3/4 of her tail out and about half her mane when I spoke to you.  She has been wearing the rug and hood 24/7 apart from when it is washed (it dries really quickly).  She was feeding a foal at the time and the rug did not affect the foal at all, she found the udder straight away. I am am happy to say that her tail has now grown back at the top and her mane is also growing nicely.  We wash her mane and tail twice a week and she is completely clear of scabs.  Her foal has now been weaned and we have just started to break the mare.  She will hopefully compete in M&M first ridden classes.  Without her snuggy sweet itch rug and hood I don't think this would have been possible.  I have ordered her a turnout hood today, more expensive than some other hoods on the market but worth every penny.  I know that it will stay in place and not ride up and cover her eyes like others I have used. Once again many thanks

Just a quick note to say how much we love your hoods and that we hope to be placing another order for the new inmates in our racing yard very soon. We've given you a mention on our blog today so hope it may bring you some more business (although we are sure you don't need any extra advertising help!). We just don't know what we would do without your turnout hoods - they really are a godsend!

Thanks very much and hope you enjoy our website too! The link is

Simon (my pony) has extremely bad sweet itch and before last summer has not had a mane, tail or much hair since he was a foal. Last year with the help of the rug he made it through with very few scabs and rubs. We have been able to put a saddle and bridle on him with out a worry and broke him in last year. He is now teaching a 6 year old girl to ride and is literally bomb proof in everyway. Thank you for making this possible.
Many thanks Mel

As you know we have the lovely steffi going to Olympia next monday, and if it wasn't for your products i think i would be having a major panic about her coat. This Highland is looking fabulous and although we have the jammies and all the hoods it is definitely the lycra body that has helped her grow an amazing coat. i know you will be busy but please take time out to have a look at Steffi's coat, she is a fab advert for your product.

I would just like to say a huge thank you to all of you at Snuggy hoods, for giving my horse sugar a happier summer than she's ever had. Although we had a rocky start being that she tore her rug into god knows how anyway I sent it back to you guys and it came back all fixed brill. They only time she has manged to rub is when I have taken the rug off to be washed and have put her " other brand rug " on not so successfully hence why I shall be purchasing another snuggy hoods body for next year also your barrier cream.

I know I'm going on a bit but I love the snuggy hoods products if it keeps my horse happy I'm happy, I have reccmommeded this 2 loads of people included my vet. also as she has looked so good this year she has done brill in the dressage this year won loads with my friends daughter they hope to qualify for the Reginals under 21s next year fingures crossed.

Thank you all once again from a very happy owner.

Andrea Guy

I would like to say how fantastic your rugs are.
Teddy is a Black Fell pony who really does suffer with this awful condition. Before his suit from you he had hardly any mane and tail and terrible bite marks all over his body as the flies drove him mad. This year he has been a different animal and I really think he knows it's good for him as once after a lesson at my friends yard, she was talking to us with her pony's Snuggyhoods rug in her hand and he was trying to get in it....Bless.
Thanks again.

Dear Snuggy Hoods
I had to write to let you know how pleased I am with the Sweet Itch Body that I bought for my two year old Haflinger filly. When I was given her, it was at the end of her first summer with sweet itch and she was covered in scabs and sores with a scraggy mane and tail. She recovered well over the winter and I did lots of research about the right rug to use. The first rug I ordered from you was too tight and I was surprised at how easy it was to change it for a larger size. She is now most of the way through her first season in the rug and I am delighted with how well it stays in place on a boisterous youngster who lives out 24/7. She is scab free and doesn't seem to have the urge to rub on things like many of the other ‘sweet itch free' horses on the yard. I was overwhelmed when she placed second at the Royal Norfolk Show, winning the special rosette for the best two year old and have sent you some photos to show how well the rug works!
Thanks,
Kate Jackson, Suffolk

Ally's Snuggy (aka bikini) has been the saviour of the equine race! Having witnessed no mane, no tail and bald shoulders together with additional scabs and bumps and a paddock that resembled more of a golf course with bunkers which she had created to give her that ultimate scratch, this is the answer to the sweet itch nightmare!
And 5 years later – it still does the job. What better accolade can you get.

Also, fantastic for keeping a grey cleaner than an England shirt. My new horse Gav will also be sporting one soon, since he is persil white – please can I get one in red, since he is named after Gavin Henson the Welsh Rugby Player??

Best wishes

Received our rug yesterday, we are SO pleased, it is the bees knees, the ROLLS ROYCE of sweet itch rugs - and made in England too. The design is so well thought out, the legs work a treat, Tal is so much more comfortable, what a relief after struggling with the other makes to try and cover his belly/front legs.

Received the snuggy hood on Thursday and today Flint was clean enough to try it on!
It fits wonderfully now - thank you.
He even went out and did a spectacular roll just to show us how well it stays on!!
Thank you for all your help

I am happy to express my delight at having purchased a rug/hood from you!
After wearing the set for 3 months, she finally stopped itching after many
years of struggle, frustration and failure at alieviating the problem.
Please send extra white material for me to repair as other materials don\'t hold up.
Thank you!
I am delighted to have a new Swedish warmblood mare:)
She has the bug allergy pretty ugly, so I am purchasing a combo for her, too:)

Hello,
I just wanted to say thanks for my horse's hood. It's fab!
I was v doubtful about spending that much money on a hood when there are cheaper ones about, but I'm so glad I did. He's been wearing it continually since it arrived, it fits like a glove & despite him being a v enthusiastic roller, it hasn't moved a mm.
It keeps him really warm, I don't have to worry about him getting cold living out (this is the first year he's had a full clip instead of a blanket/half head) & he can't get dirty so he doesn't have to freeze while I wash his head/top of his mane for shows.
I couldn't be more pleased with it & am so glad I paid the extra for ears/zip.

Thank you for returning my altered hood and rug. The rug is so much better
and works really well there are no rub marks on his face and it's so much
easier to put on with the zip. I will send you some photos of him once I
return from holiday.

Thank you once again for such a great rug which is helping my horse to be
more comfortable during the midge season. The NET TEX salve is also fantastic
and a must for anyone who's horse has wounds from constant rubbing. Firoz's
wounds healed so quickly and his skin is now soft and not at all sore.

I was also impressed that in the awful weather we are having that he is warm
and dry under his hood. I would have expected him to be wet and cold and
wasn't looking forward to bringing him in to dry which would have given him
a surface to rub on, however i had no need to worry.

I will not hesitiate to recommend you in the future.

Kind regards
Louise Laing, Norfolk

Dear Becky and all other 'Snuggies',
Thank you very much for my horse's snuggy/sweet itch body.

When I came to England 2 months ago, I was shocked by and unprepared for the
high midge population here. Her old blanket was insufficient, but I'm sure
the snuggy will stop her itch again! How amazing!
Thank you very much for the excellent service, and this one, as you can see,
is a perfect fit! The udder cover is amazing as well!
Many many thanks again!

I just wanted to thank you forthis marvellous rug which is doing
a great job on my precious welsh cob !!
His Mane is beautiful, His tail is growing (unrubbed) and
he is beautifully clean, and he is so much happier its not true !!!
My only problem is the dreaded barb wire in his field, Which I cannot do
much about as the farmer likes it !! He is reaching over the edges into the
wired off areas and pulling this great rug to bits.... But rest assured i
SHALL BE ORDERING ANOTHER... AS IT IS FANTASTIC
MAYBE I COULD HAVE SOME MORE PATCHES IN THE MEANTIME ?????

Dear Becky,
Just a quick note to thank you.
Our snuggy hoods and rug arrived much earlier than anticipated this morning and we are so impressed with them. they all fit like they were tailor made and are really lovely however the stallion would disagree he is terrified of the ponies with the hoods on! We don't know why we didn't contact you earlier, what a fantastic business you run - i will make sure we spread the word.
Yours Lucinda Hird

Bridger is a changed character in looks and temperament - thanks to his
Snuggy hoods sweet itch body. He has a long mane and tail and because he
doesn't get bleached by the sun he is jet black! So good in fact that he
took the gelding championship at the Northern Shetland Show. THANK YOU."

Dear Snuggies,
Thank you so much for repairing Morgan's rugs. I don't think
he could get by without them. I am enclosing an extra £7. I want you to get
yourselves a tin of chocolates or biscuits.
PS I will order another rug in the summer! Thank you so much.

Icelandic Horses GB Survey on Sweet Itch Rugs
This is what they say about Snuggy Hoods:

Here is a rug with a completely different design. It comes in two pieces, a large, tight fitting hood, with or without ears and fly fringe over the eyes. The hood fastens behind the front legs and could be worn on its own. The body piece fits around the base of the neck and covers the remainder of the horse. Unlike any other rug, the Snuggy Hood has no straps but is secured with four large pieces of Velcro under the belly. The tailpiece has a wrap around and flap.
In spite of its close fit (no loose pleats under the neck) I have not found that the horse sweats any more or less than with the other rugs (but I live in Scotland, sweating is not a huge problem, here!) I like the fact that there are not elastic straps (the biggest hazard to my mare's rugs comes from our gelding who loves to pull them and it has held up very well and I really like the design.
