Sweet Itch Rug
Complete Sweet Itch Protection for your horse, pony or donkey! The Snuggy Sweet Itch Rug offers total protection from midges, biting insects, flies and harmful sunshine rays. It comes complete with full belly coverage, elasticated & padded chest and withers, double tail protection in the form of a tail wrap and XL flap with non-stretch binding along the spine length.
This unique Rug is made of fully breathable, water repellent, heavy shower proof, lightweight stretch fabric which is durable, cool & comfortable. The Sweet Itch Rug is fully machine-washable and designed to be worn 24/7, in field or in stable, rain or shine.
The Sweet Itch Rug covers chest, shoulders, body, belly and tail. We recommend to use this Rug with the Sweet Itch Hood for maximum coverage, nose to tail. The Sweet Itch Rug and Sweet Itch Hood is our best-selling combination for Sweet Itch prevention.
KEY FEATURES
If you don't require neck protection the Sweet Itch Rug can be used alone. It can also be used with the Headless Sweet Itch Hood for amazing protection without covering the horse's face.
Plus there is also the option to add the Sweet Itch Mask with ears and mesh eyes, as well as Front Legs, Sheath Cover or Udder Cover for extra coverage for severe sufferers. These items are purchased separately and need the appropriate attachments sewn on to the Sweet Itch Rug. During a sale/offer or discount period, customers are asked to add the appropriate attachments to their basket. If this is not done, you will receive an attachments pack with instructions leaflet, to enable you to add the necessary attachments yourself.
The Sweet Itch Rug prevents coat bleaching and being mud proof and water repellent it is also fabulous as an under rug for Autumn/Winter use, to keep your horse clean and add that extra breathable layer for warmth.

What is Sweet Itch?
Sweet Itch is caused by an allergic reaction to the bites of the Culicoides midge and, to a lesser extent, Simulium Equinum. At present there is no known cure for Sweet Itch. Once an equine develops the allergy it is generally affected every Spring, Summer and Autumn. There are two approaches to improving the comfort of an affected animal: to minimize the allergic reaction with corticosteroids, anti-histamines or soothing lotions or to minimise midge attack using a Sweet Itch Rug. The second method offers the most effective protection and avoids the need to use harsh chemicals, expensive repellents and messy oils or greases. The Snuggy Sweet Itch Rug has been approved by Veterinary professionals for the prevention of the midge bite allergic reaction.

Sweet Itch Hood

It comes complete with mesh eyes, built in ears, optional zip, adjustable noseband & elastic poll adjusters for secure fit. The Sweet Itch Hood also has a no-seam silky lined mane & shoulder area to prevent rubbing/chaffing and an adjustable belly strap.
The Snuggy Sweet Itch Hood is designed for comfort and protection. The noseband is soft on the inside and the neck is cut extra long so the horse can stretch down comfortably to graze.

Sweet Itch Mask
The Snuggy Hoods Sweet Itch Mask offers excellent coverage for face, ears and eyes and is designed to be used with the Bug Body (attaches with D-ring and velcro loop) or with a full high neck fly rug/summer sheet. We recommend the Sweet Itch Mask for the following uses - Sweet Itch prevention & allergy/fly/insect/UV ray protection.
This unique Sweet Itch Mask has built in ears and mesh eyes. It is lined in the mane area behind the ears with a silky fabric and has elasticated adjustment in multiple places for a close, secure fit. The Sweet Itch Mask comes either as a pull on or zipped option for easier fitting.
Constructed of a robust yet lightweight and fully breathable fabric which prevents insects biting, and is also heavy showerproof, stops coat bleaching (harmful UV rays) whilst keeping your horse or pony clean!
The optional zip runs from chin to under the neck. Without a zip the Sweet Itch Mask is 'pull on' so simply slip over the nose and pull backwards into position.
Designed for use with the Bug Body Fly Rug but is suitable for use with any full neck fly rug or summer sheet. Also ideal for use with the Headless Sweet Itch Hood for optional face coverage. The Sweet Itch Mask will attach to the Bug Body neck or Headless Sweet Itch Hood with a metal D-ring and strong velcro loop for security. A velcro loop is included at the top of the neck of both the Bug Body and Headless Hood - this is there to loop through the metal D ring provided with every Mask - for extra security.
A spare Velcro loop is provided so the Sweet Itch Mask can be attached to the neck of an alternative rug for added security. We strongly recommend customers attach the Sweet Itch Mask to a rug neck as instructed in the fitting information sheet. If you need help with this please contact us before using the Mask.

All sheath and udder covers will come with a small pack of velcro to enable you to attach to your current rug.
If you wish us to send the rug ready to use, attachments in place for udder/sheath cover, this addition must be added to the basket during sale periods.
If you are ordering a rug, and already own a sheath/udder cover, wishing for the attachments to be added to your new rug, please add this extra to the basket.

Leg Attachments
If purchasing an item during a sale that requires sheath/udder cover or leg cover attachments please add the relevant attachments to your basket.
When purchasing multiple rugs, please state in the "notes" section at the checkout which rug you would like the attachments added to. If you require attachments to each rug in your order, simply add the same number of attachments to each rug you require them on... ie 3 x rugs, 3 x attachments.
If you are happy to sew the attachments on yourself there is no need to purchase. An attachments pack with step by step instructions shall be enclosed within your package at no extra cost.
